5 Morning Routine Steps

For me personally having a morning routine is so so important to ensure I have a productive day. I always like to get up a little earlier than I need to so I have some time to focus on myself. Whether that is doing my full skin routine, taking more time with my hair or simply making my self a cup of tea and a nutritious breakfast that I have time to enjoy.

However, as much as I have the idea of a positive morning routine, this does always not go to plan and that's okay. Every thing doesn't always need to go to plan, its about keeping going and trying. So if you have big plans for your morning or even your day as a whole and they don't work out that's fine. Just keep going and as long as your moving forward that's really all that matters.

I've developed these 5 small steps that you can add to your morning routine to help you feel happy and healthy. EVEN when you've snoozed your alarm a few times......

1. Skincare - Now I'm not talking a full cleanse, moisture and exfoliation (unless you want too) but just a quick face wash or a moisture. This will help waken you up and feel fresh. I always feel that little bit more human in the morning if I take that few minutes to have a freshen up. Also its just nice to fell clean I suppose! I've been loving Tropic Skincare recently, all there products are 100% Vegan. Check them out on Instagram @tropicskincare

2. Make yourself a Hot or Cold drink - For me I always love a cup of coffee in the morning. Just makes me just feel comfy and chilled out. However I must admit I often don't have time to sit down and drink it (working on it). I like to make it in a travel mug and drink it on my way. Which allows to still enjoy this when I'm on my morning drive.

3. Goals for the day - Whilst I am doing my hair in the morning I like to plan out my day. Just planning it in my head if I maybe don't have the time to write them down. This makes me feel inspired to get my day started. I feel this also has less pressure to have a perfect day - I can just be in my thoughts for 5-10 minutes and decide what is most important for me that day and if it doesnt go to plan that's okay.

4. Make your bed - I do this every single day. I like to have my bed made just so whenever I come home my room is looking nice and fresh. So even if I have had a stressful day I don't have to come home to a messy room (sounds silly I know) I would just highly recommend taking the time every day to do this. I believe that if you have a clean space at home your mind will feel at peace there.

5. Set your alarm - Setting your alarm 5-10 minutes before you actually need to get up gives you that little extra time for yourself. I like to take this time to simply scroll through my social media or put a You tube video on ( been loving Elle Darby lately!). I know going on your phone first thing in the morning isn't great - but lets be real we all do it - so I just like to give myself that little bit of time when I first wake up to go on Instagram so it doesn't interfere with the rest of my routine.

I hope you adopt maybe a few of these tips into your routine.

Thank you for reading,

Alyx :)

New Year Goal Setting

Its January 2020, not just a new year but a whole new decade! The time where everyone says - 'New year new me' - sets themselves big goals and has big plans for the coming year. This is great and I encourage everyone to set goals however a lot of the time, slowly but surely these resolutions and goals start to be forgotten about and we fall back into our old habits. Which can then make us feel deflated and down because we have not achieved what we waned too. Taking yourself back into that circle of unhappiness that you had worked so hard to get out of at the start of the year. So this year, 2020, still set yourself goals and make those resolutions however make them REALISTIC. Think - can I actually achieve this - can I put a plan in place that will allow me to be successful. If the answer is no then rethink you goal, make your goals smaller steps that will one day help you achieve your overall dream. Another tip is don't make too many new years resolutions as again they...
