Its December, its now time for the festivities to begin.
As much as this can be the most wonderful and happy time of year, it is also a period where many people struggle. When all the festive parties are planned and big get togethers many of us get anxious and nervous. What will I wear? Who should I speak to? Where will I sit?
For me this is often something I worry about. In this blog I hope to share my hints on how to enjoy the festivities and reduce those fears:
No. 1 - Get involved with the planning. Yes, this can often be a daunting thing in itself. However for me being the one organising makes me feel more at ease. I know all the information, who will be there, the dress code, what games we will play? Therefore I can prepare a night that will feel comfortable in.
No.2 - Plan your outfits in advance. I am the WORST for this, I know its silly for me to promote this but honestly it just take so much of the stress away. If you have a outfit you love and feel good in this will make you feel a lot more calm leading up to the events. It's so important to feel comfortable in what you are wearing, I am my biggest critic and if I don't feel good in myself this can ruin my whole night. Loving yourself is so important in your happiness.
No.3 - Don't go alone. If your feeling particularly worried about a certain party, ask a friend or colleague if they would like to meet for a drink first or even share a taxi down. That way you will have someone at first to get in their with and then you can try speaking to others. Hopefully this will make you feel more comfortable in the first instance.
No.4 - You don't need to go all the time. The choice is yours, if your not feeling a big night out then that is your call. No one should make that decision for you. A cosy night on the couch with a hot chocolate might be what you need. Just make sure you are making your best efforts to go and if its too much for you then its pj's back on. Next time you'll be maybe get one step further and that's all that matters. Your life is about you - You can be selfish.
I hope this may help! Thankyou for reading.
